Tallgrass Creek Retirement Community Residents Assist People in Joplin, Missouri

June 8, 2011 by , filed under: Retirement Homes

Tallgrass Creek retirement community residents in Overland Park, KS, this week assembled and delivered a total of 230 snack packs to assist people affected by the recent tornado in Joplin, Missouri.

The residents used $450 of donated money to purchase items for the snack packs. They did so in immediate response to a call by the Kansas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging to help people in need in Joplin.

The snack packs included the following nonperishable items inside a sealed one-gallon plastic bag: wet nap in baggie, protein or fruit bar, canned meats and fruits with quick pull tab top, pack of crackers, package of nuts, and plastic spoons and forks.

Residents Fran Wolfe and Bunny Brown played key roles in coordinating the two-week drive.

A Quote about Aging

"The process of maturing is an art to be learned, an effort to be sustained. By the age of fifty you have made yourself what you are, and if it is good, it is better than your youth." - Marya Mannes
