Home delivered meals for the elderly will be reduced to save money.Fewer meals will be delivered to seniors living at home in Illinois due to cuts in the home health services budget.
Many frail seniors are dependent on the food deliveries and experts believe the austerity measures could lead to a rise in the number of elderly people opting to move into nursing homes to survive.
The recently passed budget comprises of a $2.2 million reduction in funding for home delivered meals and other services for older state residents. This marks a 14% drop from the previous year. Read more
