Free golf lessons for seniors at Sinaloa Golf Course

November 25, 2011 by , filed under: Senior Living

Participants can improve their swing, learn how to steer clear of the bunker and hit a hole in one.

Free golfing lessons have been provided to seniors living in California for the past four years at Sinaloa Golf Course in Simi Valley.

Golfer Fred Greco, who has been playing golf for over 50 years, provides the free sessions to help people who cannot afford to pay for lessons, which cost $5 per session.

He said: “It all started when one individual approached the Moorpark Active Adult Center wanting to learn how to play golf.”

Mr Greco posted a sign-up sheet at the center to see if anyone else would be interested. “I thought if we get six people that would be cool — and 22 signed up,” he said, adding that he has since “had students from Ojai, Thousand Oaks, Westlake and the San Fernando Valley in addition to Moorpark and Simi Valley.”

Over the years Mr Greco has provided free sessions to between 2000 to 2500 people.
