Seniors stay healthy with flash mobHealthy living can start at all ages and a senior citizen group has proven just that, by planning a ‘flash mob’.
More than eighty senior citizens, along with their families, have recently joined a flash mob; in order to uphold healthy aging at the Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie.
This choreographed performance, lasted around 6 minutes and saw participants jitter-bugging, waltzing, twisting and also doing some hip-hop.
The event aimed at promoting a new cult of older adults, that enjoy vibrancy, independence and healthy living.
Flash mobs are large groups of people who learn a dance routine and then perform in a public place without any warning.
The spontaneity of these flash mobs usually catches people off guard, but everyone who witnessed the event seemed to really enjoy it.
Whilst those involved in the mob were excited to take part in such a large public event.
“It was great fun and everyone was in such great spirits,” pointed out Jane Braun, a resident of Skokie and one of the many dancers.
She added, “When you see older adults participating in an event like this, it goes to show that life doesn’t end at a certain age.
Vitality and being young at heart are a mindset.”
With that kind of attitude it is not surprising that she still has the energy and enthusiasm to take part in such a strenuous and enthralling event.
